#06 The Line

The Line (Core course, Lesson #06)

Poems (typically) have lines; the line is the basic unit poems are made of. Even so, the line is easily taken for granted. This class teaches the true value of the line, and will show you how to use lines for best effect. An excellent class for beginners, or for any poet who wants to better understand the line and how to control it.

What is included in this class:

  • A lecture covering: why poems have lines, things you can do with lines, examples of how poets have used lines and the effects they achieved.
    • Pack contains 1. a recording of the original lecture, 2. a copy of the lecture presentation and 3. the transcribed text.
  • Writing exercises: two exercises exploring how to use lines. One of these exercises involves redrafting a piece of your own work, so have one of your own poems prepared and ready to edit.

This is a downloadable class, you will receive links to download your digital learning resources in the thank you page of the checkout, along with an emailed link that will last for 30 days.
