Wandering Words 2024: a commission from The National Centre for Writing

Late in 2023 I was surprised and thrilled to receive a commission from The National Centre for Writing. The team at NCW invited me to contribute a new poem to the latest edition of Wandering Words, their interactive poetry walking trail. Each edition, NCW commissions two poets to write new poems for the Wandering Words map, the other poet this year is Martin Figura.

This literary walk has been created to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Norwich becoming England’s first UNESCO City of Literature.
National Centre for Writing commissioned writers with a connection to the city to respond creatively to a particular place in Norwich or to an event in its history.
Follow the walking trail and scan the QR code at each marked location to hear an immersive audio recording of a poem, as well as sounds of the people and settings that inspired each writer’s work. All you need is your mobile phone!

You can see the existing map and read previous years' poems here.

For now, the location I chose to write about must remain a mystery, but NCW will reveal the new locations and poems when they release the new map in May 2024. So keep an eye out!
