How can poetry capture the unique sense of a place? 
 
Places include and exceed us, they persist and evolve though time, each place has a spirit of its own. With this course, you will learn to recognise and express the characters of places, find their local languages, and speak with their resident spirits. You will transform your own observations, experiences and memories into poems redolent of place, whether natural, urban, wild, familiar, foreign, new, old, indoor, outdoor, vast or small. 
 
Each of the 5 lessons in Genius Loci contains a written lecture on a different aspect of place-writing, with a variety of poems to inspire you, and exercises to put it all into practice. Get writing about the places that move you.
